The Zygomaticus Minor
The zygomatic minor is a small facial muscle that lies beneath the zygomatic major muscle. It is also located in the cheek area and extends from the zygomatic bone to the upper lip. The zygomatic minor muscle is responsible for lifting the upper lip and exposing the upper teeth in certain facial expressions such as smiling, snarling, or sneering. The zygomatic minor muscle is also innervated by the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII). It works in conjunction with other facial muscles to produce a wide range of expressions.
